Ann provides matching features for our Windows Phone 7 software. Ann currently includes desktop PC components for the following products:

Selecting Modules

Corresponding desktop components for each of Windows Phone software are grouped into modules. When you first install Ann, you need to select modules you want to use. Only the selected modules will be visible and accessible.

When you have more than one modules activated, you can change right-side service component pane by clicking the module links shown on "Control Panel".

"Start" link on Control Panel

When you click this link, Ann activates the modules you've selected. Activated behavior depends on the selected modules:

  • Charlie

Starts a server that processes commands from Charlie Ann.

  • Nemo

Enables automatic checking of the beam server for your memo.

Configure

Charlie

Remotely Openable Items

You can remotely launch a program or document from Charlie Ann. The list of items that can be opened via Charlie Ann can be configured in the "Charlie | Remotely Openable Items" panel. (Settings can be changed only when the server is not running.)

To add an item, simply drag and drop a shortcut. Ann will automatically set the caption and path for the new item. If you wish to add manually, right click on the panel, and select "New" from the popup menu. Double clicking or pressing <Enter> on an item will open it locally.

Nemo
Starting from version 4.0, Nemo Ann no longer supports
this feature.

Beam Account

Beam account is created and managed within Nemo Ann. After setting up your Beam account on Windows Phone 7, enter the exact same information on this section.

Default Colors

Additional to catching the beamed memo from Nemo Ann, Nemo module also allows creating a local desktop memo. Such memo will have the text and background color set in this section.

When Nemo module is enabled, you can also access your memos via tray icon.

Server Access Authentication

Some modules use the server component of Ann. These modules are listed under "Interfacing Modules". Ann will activate its server component only if any one of these modules is selected.

You can setup "User Name" and "Password" for accessing the server. Both settings can be empty, but please note that in such case you also need to set the same settings for the software that makes use of the server.

Also note that Ann does not save the actual password you entered. It only saves a hashed value of the password that cannot be reversed back to the original. So, regardless of the length of your password, Ann will only show a fixed number of masking characters.

Automatic Update

Once installed, Ann has an option to automatically check for its updates. It will *not* automatically download and apply them, but it will display a message when a new version or update is available. If you wish to apply updates, simply click "Check for Updates" link on About task panel.

TIPS

If you wish to automatically run Ann when Windows starts, copy the shortcut for Ann to [ Start ] » [ Startup ] folder and add the command line switch "/start".

Ann also supports "/tray" command line switch. When this switch is used, Ann will be directly minimized to Windows system tray on its launch. Ann will not activate the modules unless the option "Activate selected modules on program startup" is enabled.
